Description

designed as two lotus blooms, one large and one small, borne on a leafy stem issuing further lotus buds springing up at the sides, the very slightly celadon-tinted white colour of even tone highlighted by natural russet inclusions, the foot later mounted with a silver stem by Edward Farmer in the form of a meandering lotus stem

Provenance

Sotheby's Hong Kong, 30th April 1997, lot 847.

Condition

It is possible that the washers may have once had covers. The carving is in very good condition with only a couple of minute nicks to the tips. The actual colour of the stone is slightly greener than in the catalogue illustration.
