Description

intricately carved in the round from a creamy-white stone with areas of mint-green inclusions, the globular body of the censer comprised of three long-necked storks upholding branches of fruiting sprays laden with peaches, pomegranates and Buddha's hands, two of them with necks bent over to form arched handles, their wings wrapped around the body while each tucks a leg underneath the censer and the other leg upholds the body also supported by four gnarled pine trees, the cover carved with Shoulao and a speckled deer atop of a lotus pad, stand

Condition

The dragon head of the staff held by Shou Lao on the cover has been broken and re-stuck. But apart from that and two nicks to the leaf wrapped around one of the crane's heads, the overall condition is very good. The back of the cover has pale blushes of lavender in the stone. The actual colour is quite close to the catalogue illustration.
