the ovoid body rising from a recessed base to a short tapering neck, brightly enamelled around the exterior with cloud-shaped landscape panels divided by gilt floral strapwork and smaller quatrefoil panels, the domed cover similarly decorated and surmounted by a lotus bud finial

The jar and cover are in overall good condition with the exception of the finial which is wooden replacement, two shallow flakes (8 and 5mm., wide) to the rim of the cover, light rubbing and loss to the gilded decoration, minor glaze firing imperfections including glaze pulls, iron-spots and burst glaze bubbles, rubbing to the glaze encircling the finial, and light glaze scratches.
