Description

  • Bronze
of slightly rectangular form, the short flaring sides rising from a short spreading foot to a square shoulder and short neck with everted rim, set to the side with a pair of taotie mask handles suspending fixed rings, the stone of yellowish-celadon tone, fitted with a later Japanese white metal pierced cover, silver inlaid wood stand and fitted boxes

A private Japanese Collection.

Condition

The censer is in very good condition with the exception of a 2mm., flake to one corner of the rim, and very minor nibbles to the edges of the rim.
