Description

  • Cloisonne (metal and enamel)
the compressed globular body rising from three short cabriole legs to a straight neck, the everted gilt rim set with a pair of simple loop handles, brightly enamelled around the body with lotus strapwork reserved on a rich turquoise ground, the base with an inscribed gilt tablet

Condition

The censer is in fair overall condition with the exception of restoration to the enamel on the waist of the body (3 x 2cm) and to the top of one leg, three tiny areas of enamel infill around the waist, enamel restoration around the rectangular mark, restoration to a circa 5cm line of enamel under the rim, minor rubbing to the gilding and short nicks and scratches to the rim and handles.
