Description

the rounded sides of the box rising from a short spreading foot, the domed cover with a flat medallion carved with a leafy peony scroll, the sides similarly carved and pierced, the stone of pale celadon tone
Condition
This piece is in fair condition with the exception of repair to the box which appears to have been a clean break and approximately 5 associated cracks forking off the main break (up to 5cm long), and repair to the cover which appears to have been a clean break into approximately 7 pieces and associated short hairline cracks and three areas of restoration to the rim (8mm x 3mm each).There are also bruises and minute chips to the edges and extremities of the carving overall and tiny nibbles to the edges of the foot and rims. Please note that the stone is of a slightly more celadon tone than illustrated in the catalogue.
