Description

  • Jadeite
carved in the round from a white stone with areas of mint-green inclusions, the globular body carved in relief with a band of taotie, with a pair of phoenix head and ruyi-ring handles on three straight legs supported by animal masks, the domed cover with another band of taotie surmounted with a Buddhistic lion and cub, wood stand

Condition

With the exception of a 2mm bruise and very minor nibbles to the rim of the cover, very minor nibbles to the edges of the rim of the censer, light wear to the bottom of the handles from rubbing of the rings, and light bruises to the edges of the carving of the handles, this piece is in very good condition. Please note that the stone is of a more celadon colour than illustrated in the catalogue.
