Description

  • Jadeite
each carved and with openwork depicting scholars standing in a rocky mountainous landscape with retreats, wutong and pine trees, with spinach stands and carved and pierced covers

Provenance

Christie's New York, 4th May 1978, lot 31.

Condition

With the exception of tiny losses to the extremities and very minor bruising to the edges of the carving, this pair of incense holders is in very good condition. The stands appear to be later additions. Please note that the jade stones are of a slightly greyer tone than illustrated in the catalogue.
