The five stanza verse 'Us Two' appears in Now We Are Six (first published in 1927). The original illustration appears on page 35 of the book.

This version, re-drawn by Shepard the following year, shows the top of the banisters of the famous staircase. The reverse of the board notes the name 'Mrs Purvis' who was a friend of Shepard and lived in Home Close, Burghfield Common. The illustration was presented as a gift to a lady who worked for Mrs Purvis.
