Catalogue Note

Louis W. Bondy notes that the 'first years of the nineteenth century enriched the world of miniature books in a most striking way. Around 1800 several London publishers... brought out complete libraries for children of great appeal which were housed in their own specially designed ornamental bookcases'. This example is described as 'the most enchanting of them'. (Bondy, p.59). There is a comprehensive article in The Book Collector, Summer 1955, pp.148-155.
