Catalogue Note

A letter providing intelligence during the blockade of Toulon. Acton, although of English descent, had in fact been born in France and was Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Naples and Sicily. Sir William Bolton, son of Nelson's brother-in-law Thomas Bolton, was commander of the sloop Childers in the Mediterranean from 1803-5.
