8vo (222 x 143 mm.) and 4to (222 x 143 mm.), 7 volumes, 4to volume with half-title, engraved frontispiece with integral facsimile letter; faded contemporary marginal on K2, a few scattered spots in gathering GG; 8vo  volumes with half-titles in volumes 1-2, publisher's advertisements in Vols. 3 (2 pages), 4 (4 pages) and 6 (2 pages); some light paper discolouration, occasional browning (particularly volume 2), light scattered foxing in volume 1;  uniformly bound in polished tan calf panelled gilt, gilt dentelles, maroon coated endpapers, spines gilt with raised bands and lettering pieces; top edges gilt; spines age-darkened, spines and joints very dry and starting, upper joint of 4to volume cracked
