Oblong folio (305 x 440mm.), engraved frontispiece and 21 plates by David Lucas after John Constable printed on india paper, 4 printed text leaves (including title), 5 original printed part wrappers and prospectus bound at end, interleaved with blanks, late nineteenth-century red morocco gilt by Broca, ex-libris of Edward Whittaker Hennell, occasional spotting, joints splitting

Catalogue Note

The prospectus, dated 1832, describes the work as "just completed", and indicates that the work was published in 5 parts and that copies with "india proofs" such as this one, were the most expensive at 10 guineas.

Loosely inserted is a copy of "English Landscape." Revised list of states, by Osbert H. Barnard, which indicates that most of the plates in this collection are first states.
