The Royal Naval Asylum was established in 1798 to provide a home for the children of seamen orphaned by the Napoleonic Wars. It moved to Greenwich towards the end of 1807, following George III grant of the use of the Queen's House, and the current copy of its regulations reveal the continued royal interest in the establishment. The school was later incorporated into the Royal Hospital School.
