Catalogue Note

Muster books for a royal regiment. Ernest Augustus, Duke of Cumberland, entered the Hanoverian Hussars at the age of 19 and saw active service in the regiment in Flanders and the Netherlands before returning to England in 1796, having been wounded in the  arms and face.
