- A manuscript description of the Austrian campaign to defend the Emperor Maximilian, and other nineteenth century manuscripts relating to French, Austrian, Dutch and Russian armies

comprising: 1) Franz Lesemann (Lieutenant). Manuscript account, possibly autograph, of the Austrian military campaign in Mexico during January to September 1867, describing the fighting under Generals Márquez and Corona in defence of the Emperor Maximilian ("der Kaiser") at the siege of Querétaro, 45 pages, folio cloth with stamped cipher of Georg V of Hanover, library, Vienna, probably late 1860s or 1870s; 2) Bugeaud, Thomas-Robert (1784-1849, Maréchal de France). Manuscript of part of "La guerre des rues et des maisons", a treatise about countering civil riots and insurgencies, comprising four chapters, 12 pages folio, mid nineteenth century, tear with loss to the 'Avant-propos''; 3) "Reglement für die Königliche [Niederländische] Militair-Academie", translated from the orignal Dutch edition of 1828)], c.146 pages, with 7 double-page tables at the end of the volume, 2 on folding sheets, folio, contemporary red boards, gilt-lettered on covers; 4) "Ordre de Bataille der kaiserl. Königl: oesterreichischen Armee, eingetheilt in 4 Armeen, und diese wieder in 14. Armee-Corps", 58 pages, oblong 8vo, manuscript tables throughout, contemporary green calf elaborately gilt, c.1820s or 1830s; 5) Von Kühne, Major. "Hyppologischer Sammlungen eines Russischen Reiterofficiers, II. Theil, Peterburg, 1860", catalogue of horses, 212 pages, folio, red cloth boards gilt, St Petersburg & Tsarskoye-Selo, 1859-1860, tears to joints--6) L. Schneider. Printed broadside of a song, "Heil dir im Siegerkranz", Berlin, 1833, together with a letter addressed to the actor L. Schneider, praising the "Volksleid" and thanking him for sending him 30 copies of his edition, Teplitz, 1 August 1833
