  • Four autograph manuscript volumes by Lewis Benne, signed ("L. Benne"), concerning the King's German Legion, comprising:

1) Reminiscences respecting The King's German Legion Established in England 17th November 1803, 26 pages, plus blanks, large folio, in English and German, brown wrappers, blue cloth folder gilt, Hanover, 17 November 1853; 2) Memoranda zur Feier des 25. December 1855 an welchem Tage vor 50. Jahren das Regiment Herzog von Cambridge Dragoner, als 3tes Husaren Regiment von des Königs Deutschen Legion auf den Etat der Britischen Armee gestellt wurde, 48 pages, large folio, red roan folder gilt, Hanover, 25 December 1855, together with a list of officers previously of the 3rd Hussar Regiment of the King's German Legion to 25 December 1855,  a list of officers of the 3rd or Göttingen Hussar Regiment on 1 June 1816, a pen-and-ink and watercolour drawing of an officer in the Duke of Cambridge's Dragoons, laid down on card, a list of officers of the Duke of Cambridge's Dragoons on 25 December 1855, and twelve clipped signatures of members of the 3rd Hussar Regiment, including those of Adolphus Frderick, Duke of Cambridge, and Colonel von Reden laid down on card; 3) Memoranda zur Feier des 25. December 1855 an welchem Tage vor 50. Jahren das Husaren-Regiment Ihrer Majestät der Königin von Hannover als 2. Husaren-Regiment von des Königs Deutschen Legion auf den Etat der Britischen Armee gestellt wurde, 16 pages, large folio, blue cloth folder gilt, Hanover, 25 October 1855, together with a 3-page list of the officers of the 2nd Osnabrück Hussar Regiment on 1 June 1815, a 14-page list of the various ranks of the 2nd Hussar Regiment, two ink and watercolour drawings and a leaf dated Lüneburg, 25 November 1855, bearing 44 signatures by members and former members of the Hussar Regiment; 4) 2tes Husaren Regiment von des Königs Deutschen Legion jetztigem Husaren Regimente Ihrer Majestät der Königin von Hannover, comprising ten clipped signatures including Adolphus Frederick, Duke of Cambridge, laid down in a blue cloth folder, 415 x 265mm, Hanover 13 October 1856
