Catalogue Note
Many items relating to Brunswick descended to the Hanoverian royal family on the death of Wilhelm, Duke of Brunswick, in 1884. Crown Prince Ernst August II of Hanover was his closest male relative and was bequested his personal possessions, including books. Friedrich August, Duke of Brunswick-Oels (1740-1805), was the second son of Karl I Duke of Brunswick.
