125mm. high, off-set lithographed panels, lid with "by kind permission of the Author Lewis Carroll", label on inside of lid, worn with loss to illustrations, inside label mostly removed, scratches and some indentation

Catalogue Note
Manufactured in 1892 for W. and R. Jacobs by the firm of Barringer, Wallis and Manners. Carroll's original objection to the tin was waived when Jacobs agreed to provide him with as many examples as he wanted (without the biscuits) for friends. Nevertheless, the original tins are now extremely rare.
