Catalogue Note

A highly attractive pocket army list whose binding incorporates the cipher of Queen Caroline (1683-1737), George II's consort. The date of the manuscript (1740) is three years after the Queen's death, suggesting that either an unused notebook with the Queen's cipher was employed by the scribe, or that the work was inserted into a reused binding.
