Description

  • An Egyptian Bronze Figure of Anubis
  • bronze
  • Height 5 3/4 in. 14.6 cm.
striding on a rectangular base and holding a now missing staff in his raised right hand and probably an ankh in his lowered right hand, and wearing a pleated royal kilt with central tab, and striated tripartite wig, the eyes and eyebrows with electrum or gold overlay, the base inscribed "May Anubis give life to Psamtik."

Condition

Generally good except for the repairs across the knees and ankles, visible in photo, which could use some further work; a small piece is missing at the proper left ankle. Surface a little pitted and worn in places.
