Catalogue Note
A very similar table attributed to George Bullock, probably supplied to Sir Walter Scott for Abbotsford, is illustrated in Anthony Coleridge, `The Work of George Bullock, Cabinet-Maker, in Scotland: 2', Connoisseur, April 1965, p. 15, pl. 14.
Bullock became a personal friend of Sir Walter Scott through an introduction by J. B. S. Morrit of Rokeby. He subsequently collaborated with the architect of Abbotsford, William Atkinson on its interior decoration.
