Condition
Overall slightly faded. Slight discolouration to ground along top edge. Embroidery in good condition overall. Some holes to the ground, see centre top edge, small hole far right edge level with third line of text ...`commandments be'..., small hole within scrolling border, bottom left corner underneath leopard's tail, then two holes with text EMBROIDERED, under the `m' and under the `o'. Small hole far left edge, level with this line of text. Larger holes against the edge, underneath the `N' of the brown capital letter alphabet, and to the left of the `A' above. .
Framed, mounted and glazed
Worked in cross stitch with polychrome silk threads, with line of lower case and upper case across the top, and alphabet in brown on two rows, with holes, above a row of flowering scrolling foliate trail, the lower section with a leopard, parrot and stag across the bottom, with Mary Cole 1759 in brown silk, all within narrow thistle scroll on a cream ground; the panel centred with
