Catalogue Note

A suite of walnut seat furniture with chased and gilt-metal mounts which relate to those on the present table, is recorded in the collection of the Duke of Hamilton at Hamilton Palace, Lanarkshire, Scotland (see Ian Gow, Scottish Houses and Gardens, Country Life, 1997, pp.136-137). The suite was acquired in the Hamilton Palace sale of November 1919 by the 1st Viscount Leverhulme and subsequently sold by him The Anderson Galleries, New York, 3 February 1926, lots 604-608.
