Condition

This work is in good condition overall. The colors, particularly along the top edge, are quite bright. There are some areas of thinner application of paint, which is inherent to the artist's technique. Framed.

Catalogue Note

In 1967, Richard Gangel, the former Art Director of Sports Illustrated, commissioned R.B. Kitaj to paint this work for a future insert on legendary baseball pitcher, Sandy Koufax, and his team, The Brooklyn Dodgers. The painting was then given to Richard Gangel as a gift by the artist.
