Condition

The body has a few scattered spots of chipped paint (mostly on the polyurethane foam). Some surface dust and dirt (concentrated on the torch). The crown is detachable and has two missing spikes (another has been glued on). A few small pieces of polyurethane and one small toy plane have broken off of the crown).

Catalogue Note

The present work was executed in 1986, the 100th birthday of the Statue of Liberty. This work was part of an exhibition at Barney's that benefitted the Cooper-Hewitt Museum.  Roy Lichtenstein and Robert Rauschenberg along with Karl Lagerfeld and Jean-Paul Gaultier also participated.
