Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The top edge of the sheet is deckled. All surface inconsistencies, abrasions, accretions, wear and evidence of handling are presumably inherent to the artist's working method and intent. There is a horizontal crease in the sheet located approximately 7 1/2 inches from the bottom edge, visible in the catalogue illustration, which also appears inherent to the artist's working method. The sheet is hinged verso to the matte at the top two corners and framed under Plexiglas.

Catalogue Note

"With Jean-Michel [Basquiat] or Picasso, the fact that they could do it so easily is what makes the work, in the end, so great. They had absolute fearlessness. If you're not fearless about changes, then you won't progress." - Christopher Wool (Glenn O'Brien, "Interview with Christopher Wool and Richard Hell, Interview Magazine, May 2008)
