Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of fine craquelure at the pull margins and minimally scattered throughout the composition. A few soft creases in the canvas are evident at the top right corner. Additionally, there are a few scattered unobtrusive and very fine surface abrasions. There are also scattered colorless surface accretions which fluoresce brightly under ultraviolet light. Under ultraviolet inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Unframed.

Catalogue Note
"The Camouflage Paintings were the culmination of both his lifelong need to disguise himself and his career-long quest to come up with an art that would make the anti-Pop mandarins of the New York art world look at his work in a more favorable light...Of course, Andy being Andy, he couldn't resist tweaking even as he tried to please. 'What can I do,' he often asked his Factory workers, including me, 'that would be abstract, but not really abstract?'" - Bob Colacello (Exh. Cat., New York, Gagosian Gallery, Camouflage, 1997, p. 7)
