Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The sheet has faintly yellowed at the edges of the sheet, not visible when the work is framed. Additionally, there is a slight undulation in the sheet, also largely not visible when the work is framed. The sheet is hinged verso to the matte at the top two corners. Framed under glass. Please note that the illustration in the printed catalogue should be rotated 180 degrees. Please see sothebys.com for the correct orientation.

Catalogue Note

"My paintings have neither object nor space nor line nor anything -- no forms. They are light, lightness, about merging, about formlessness, breaking down form" – Agnes Martin (Exh. Cat., Houston, The Menil Collection, Agnes Martin: The Nineties and Beyond, 2002, pp. 14-15)
