Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is richer and deeper, with the blue upper part of the face tending more to deep sky blue and with fluorescent yellow and orange hues to the eyes in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. The canvas is mounted to a backing board with staples around the four extreme edges, and the edges are uneven. There is some light undulation to the lower left and top right corners, and elsewhere throughout the canvas. There are a few surface media irregularities to the lower left corner which appear original to the artist’s working process. On close inspection there are four tiny media accretions to the face above the mouth. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.
