Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly warmer, with the white tending more towards ivory in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is some evidence of light wear and a few extremely faint handling marks are visible around the four extreme edges. A small light rub mark is visible above the left side of the relief, and there is a further small horizontal rub mark in the centre of the lower right quadrant. Two small patches of stable craquelure are visible on close exmination to the top left and lower right quadrants. On close inspection, there are two feather cracks to the top of the lower left quadrant and a small crack above this which have been stablised, with the restoration visible under ultraviolet light. A few further small scattered isolated cosmetic retouchings are visible elsewhere when examined under ultraviolet light, including to the top left protruding tip of the relief element.
