Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is deeper and richer with the whites tending more towards cream, and more prominent yellow undertones throughout and less pronounced contrasts in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. On close examination, there is some minor shrinkage to the thicker parts of black pigment (visible in the catalogue illustration), and a few minute breaks to isolated impasto peaks throughout. There are a few extremely fine hairline cracks to places including: to the top right quadrant, and to the top and centre of the left extreme edge. There is a very small pigment loss to the thick stroke of cream pigment at the centre of the lower quarter. No evidence of restoration is apparent under ultraviolet light.
