Condition

Colours: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is more vibrant, with a much brighter yellow and the background tending more towards soft grey in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. There is some light canvas draw to the top left, right and lower left corners and the canvas is slightly slack with a few artist's pin holes around the extreme vertical edges. Around the extreme edges and corners there is some intermittent wear with small associated media losses, notably along the lower extreme edge (partially visible in the catalogue illustration). There is a small 1mm hole on the lower right quadrant, approximately 8cm in from the right edge. There appears to be some extremely faint creasing to the canvas in the lower left quadrant, with a few fine associated hairline cracks. A few further isolated matrices of craquelure are visible on close inspection to the upper centre of the composition. Some light surface dirt is adhering in places throughout. Under ultraviolet light there is a thin short lines of retouching to the far left side of the upper extreme edge, and to the far right side of the lower extreme edge, and further small retouchings around the pin holes at the lower part of the right extreme edge and at the top of the left extreme edge.
