Condition
There are seven areas of loss to the narrow blue ribbon entwined around the rim and a crack through the rim adjacent to one of these areas.

Catalogue Note
This service, which appears to be unique in the inclusion of the central pagoda motif, was made for Samuel Cabot and Eliza Perkins on the occasion of their marriage in 1812, and was probably ordered by the bride's father, Thomas Handasyd Perkins, a Boston merchant in the China Trade. The basket shape, which is also unusual, is a copy of a Wedgwood creamware form.
