the saucer dish painted with a Westerner aiming a gun at a bird with a pagoda and Dutch ship in the distance, the saucer painted with the scene of 'The Sailor's Farewell' with a Dutch ship in the background.
Condition
The sailor’s farewell saucer: In overall good condition. Some of the enamel, particularly the blue one, has been chipped or rubbed off. The gilding around the rim edge is slightly rubbed.
The saucer dish: There are two areas, both about 2 inches, which has been sprayed; one is at 2 o’clock, and another at 5 o’clock, both covering cracks about 2 inches long. There are two 1 ½ inch areas of restoration at the rim, probably covering small chips.

Catalogue Note
According to Lange, 2005, p. 236, no. 98, who illustrates a part tea service with the same scene as on the saucer dish, this scene may be of Whampoa, which is know for its pagodas and where Western merchants anchored their ships.
