A CHINESE EXPORT 'CAPE OF GOOD HOPE' TEABOWL AND SAUCER CIRCA 1770

painted with four Dutch ships at anchor in Table Bay.

The saucer has a one inch haircrack running down from a 1/8 inch V shaped chip on the rim; the crack terminates just before the foot into a 3/4 haircrack running parallel to the footrim. The teabowl has a 1/4 inch area of fritting to the rim edge and two small pinhead rim chips. There is a 1/4 inch crack running down from the rim. There is a 1/2 inch arched bruised crack to the exterior footrim. Both have wear to the gilding to the rim and there is stacking wear to the enamel on the saucer.
