Condition
There is a 3/8 inch chip ot the rim edge at 12 o'clock, and another slightly smaller at 10 o'clock; these are both visible in the catalogue. There is very slight stacking wear to the enamels.

The engraved source for this subject is not known, and various suggestions have been made regarding the subject matter - a simple image of rural toil, a depiction of Ruth, or a mythological subject. An identical plate was in the Collection of Khalil Rizk was sold in these rooms, April 25, 2008, lot 158.
