Coffee cup has two 1 1/2 inch fine haircracks running down from the rim. Otherwise both pieces in good condition with just slight rubbing to the gilt rims.

The Cortes was a representative assembly that originated as an institution in the 12th or 13th Century in the various regions of Spain, and composed of the clergy, nobility and burghers, who exercised more ceremonial than legislative influence, but who met locally until the 19th Century. The First national Cortes met at Cadiz from September 24, 1810 to May 10, 1814, during the Peninsular War.
