Condition
There is a 1 ¼ inch crack to the rim and immediately adjacent there is a y shaped crack which runs for ½ inch in two directions at approximately 1 o’clock. There is a 1/2 inch haircrack to the rim at 3 o’clock. Otherwise the enamels and gilding are in good condition.

Howard, 1974, Vol. I, p. 696, no. V3 illustrates a hot water plate from this service. Sir Andrew Hamond, for whom this service was made, commanded H.M.S. Roebuck in the American War and was subsequently appointed Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia.
