the moulded mantel shelf above a fluted frieze centred by a carved tablet, the shell and husk carved jambs headed by corbels; replacement plinth blocks and shelf

Condition

replacement plinth blocks and shelf. General chips to shelf and other lesser chips to edges and corners including a chip to the left hand corbel as you face the chimneypiece. Restored breaks to the moulding beneath the fluted frieze and also to the plain horizontal section below this. Restoration to the left hand jamb in the region of the pendant carving and evidence of a re-finished surface indicating a possible repaired break in this area. Back slab to right hand jamb with restored break to the outer side near base. General old marks and scratches.
