The smallest chest is in good condition but has a split to the top and scuffs and marks throughout. The middle chest is in fair condition with extensive scuffing, chips and stains throughout. The largest chest is in good condition but with a separation to the top and light marks and scratches throughout.

The first chest contained silver belonging to Lady Harriet Elizabeth Georgiana Howard, the third daughter of the 6th Earl of Carlisle and his wife Lady Georgiana Cavendish sister of the 6th Duke of Devonshire. Lady Harriet married in 1823 Lord George Granville Leveson-Gower, Earl of Gower who became the second Duke of Sutherland in 1838.
