Description
- Gilt brass
- longest pair 220cm., 7ft. 2¾in. and the other pair 186cm., 6ft. 1¼in.
four, comprising two pairs, one pair with cast supporters in the form of lotus leaves, together with a quantity of brass curtain rings, reduced.
Provenance
Ordered by William Spencer Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858), probably as part of J. G. Crace's remodelling of Devonshire House in the early 1840s
Condition
Fair overall condition. Each curtatin rail is broken in the middle and at each end. The gilding on the cast supports is very worn,as it is on the rails themselves. Very dirty with some evidence of corrosion.
