Description

  • 109cm. high, 98cm. wide; 3ft. 7in., 3ft. 2½in.
the arched back cast with a pattern of alternating flower heads and buds around a border of rosettes, the associated firegrate front with a boldly cast gilt-metal acanthus scrolled surmount between two cast balusters supporting a knopped central bar together with a further late Regency section of gilt-brass scrolled firegrate surmount (3)

Condition

Five of the rossettes at the boarder at the top are detached and missing. There is a crack through one side of teh fireback. There is rusting and corrosion throughout. The columns each have chips to some edges. The additional firegrate surmount is in fair condition and has a paper label from A Webster and Co, Dover Street, London 'His Grace the Duke of Devonshire' and hand written to the reverse 'Large Library Grate'.
