Description

  • 129cm. high, 156cm. wide; 4ft. 2¾in., 5ft. 1½in.
with boldly carved bolection moulding, each jamb ending in a block plinth, some components inscribed Eaton Sq.

Condition

Fair overall condition with some marks and stains. The horizontal section is broken into three pieces. Light chipping to all of the edges.

This fire surround was removed from its original location in either the late 18th or early 19th century and re-deployed by Edward Cavendish, 10th Duke of Devonshire (1895-1950) at his London residence 85, Eaton Square.
