An early Victorian Ashford marble and inlaid table and base mid-19th century

the circular top now in four pieces, with a malachite trellis border, a further outer border with reserves inlaid with birds, insects and flowerheads in various hardstones, the columnar stand with three scrolled supports, one broken, on a triform base resting on three gadrooned feet, losses, not illustrated



 

Distressed condition. The top is broken into four sections and has significant losses around the broken areas. There are losses around the edge, with some broken, detached pieces retained. The socle has a missing section. One of the scroll supports is broken with losses and fragmention to the damaged area. The base has many old chips. Staining throughout. The quality of the craftsmanship in this piece is excellent and once restored this table will be a supreme example of its kind.
