Condition

Good general condition. The associated top has some old marks and stains. The re-polished base has some minor old marks and scratches and chips to the edges with some replaced sections to the stretcher.

Catalogue Note

In the first inventory taken at Chatsworth in 1764 a number of 'Old Long stools' are recorded of which this may be one. At that time they were situated in the Closet, in the 'Painted Room', in the Chapel and in the Gun Room.
