Description
- Ebony, ivory, mahogany
- 86cm. high, 166cm. wide, 60cm. deep; 2ft. 10in., 5ft. 5¼ in., 1ft. 11½ in.
the interior now fitted with satinwood veneered drawers and a further compartment with drawers, on square tapering legs united by an H-shaped stretcher, with an enamelled plaque painted New Patent / Broderip Wilkinson / 13 Haymarket / London, with brass cappings and castors

Condition
Lacking all workings. The stained ivory and ebony keys stuck down. Scratches and marks to the surface. The lid has been reattached using screws around the edge. Some chips to the remains of the keys. The lidded compartment to the right side is locked. One of the drawers is missing a handle.

The firm of Broderip & Wilkinson, a partnership between Francis Broderip and George Wilkinson, was formed in 1798 following the failure of Longman & Broderip, Wilkinson & Co. The new company remained in business until Broderip's death in 1807. Their premises were in Haymarket, London.
