Description
- 76cm. high, 103cm. wide; 2ft. 6in., 3ft. 4½in.
with a semi-circular grate aperture surmounted by urns and between reserves with anthemion supported by tapering columnar legs surmounted by further urns ending in block feet united by a pierced apron, together with the lower part of a similar grate front (2)
Condition
Probably ordered by William Cavendish, 5th Duke of Devonshire (1748-1811) as part of his remodelling of Devonshire House or Chatsworth 1770-1790
Fair condition with surface rust and pitting throughout. Both the pierced aprons are misshapen and one has some damage and some losses.
