Description
- 83cm. high, 117cm. wide, 73cm. deep; 2ft. 8½in., 3ft. 10½in., 2ft. 5in.
the tambour top with leaf cast handles and opening to reveal a fitted interior including a ratcheted mirror, the sides with lidded reserves, each side with a conforming handle and drawer, the front with a single frieze drawer, on moulded square tapering legs ending in brass cappings and leather castors
Condition
The tambour is in need of attention as it does not run smoothly. The interior lids are cracked and some are missing their handles. Old marks and scratches throughout.

Catalogue Note
This could possibly be a piece supplied by John Wacher on 26th March 1783; ...the Large Square Tambour Table varnished purple Wood & strung with a Drawer Lock & Key (Devonshire Papers). The cost of this was £5 18. Whist this desk lacks the 'strung' decoration the bill would describes a table of large size. The offered lot with it's bold proportions, whilst perhaps not the desk listed in the bill, make Wacher a credible suggestion. He produced a number of pieces coming to a total of £30 11 10½. and a further group in 1782 for £15 which suggests the he was regularly patronised by the Duke.
