Description
- Mahogany, brass and porcelain
- 67cm. high, 69cm. wide, 46cm. deep.; 2ft. 2¼in., 2ft 3¼in., 1ft. 6in.
the hinged top opening in conjunction with dummy drawers to reveal a turned lid covering a ceramic liner
Literature
A number of such commodes are included in the inventory of Chatsworth taken in 1792 for instance p. 10 in The Blue & White Room A Mahogany commode chest of drawers and again in the inventory taken in 1818 for instance on p. 11 in the North West Corner Room.
Condition
Fair condition. Veneers to top with losses and lifting. One rear block foot detached. Scratches, marks and scuffs throughout.
